SALT LAKE CITY – December 7th, 2017 – For the second year in a row, Landmark Home Warranty was named one of the Best Businesses to Work For in Utah by Utah Business Magazine.
Landmark previously won this award in 2016, and is holding rank along with 50 other companies who are named the top businesses to work for in the state. Landmark was honored along with these other 49 top companies at a gala in the Grand America Hotel on December 7, 2017.
According to Utah Business Magazine, the award is given to the best companies in Utah based on “benefits, pay, fairness and opportunities, corporate culture, internal communication and employee pride.” To qualify, the company must have at least 25 employees working in Utah.
Chris Smith, Landmark Home Warranty President, said he is glad the company has continued to be one of the best places to work in Utah for the second year in a row.
“We have gone through a lot of changes in the past year,” Smith said. “I’m glad that we have kept our company culture and values in place. We want to be a rock in our employees’ lives and provide a place that helps individuals to learn and grow.”
One way that Landmark accomplishes this is by offering tuition assistance for employees who are attending college. Landmark pays up to $2,000 a year for students who work full time and go to school.
Landmark also offers a great benefits package for their full-time employees, including health insurance, a 401(k) match, accruing and rolling paid time off, and paid maternity and paternity leave.
Although Landmark was one of the “medium” companies on the list, Ben Gilchrist, Landmark Home Warranty’s Human Resources Manager, said that they work to keep their company culture the same as it was when it was just a team of 50 people.
“When you work at Landmark, you are part of what we call the ‘Landmark Family,’” Gilchrist said. “We take care of our employees and treat them like our family members. You can see that in every aspect of our business.”
Every year, Landmark’s directors put programs in place to help employees set work and personal goals as well as to recognize and reward hard-working employees by making some of their dreams come true.
Each year, employees at Landmark can submit names of co-workers to have their “dreams” realized from the Landmark Dreams program. Sometimes this dream is in-home maid service for an employee who had just had premature twins and sometimes it is a vacation of a lifetime for an individual who needed some time off. Regardless of the prize, each year two to three employees are given their dream prize and recognized for their hard work.
Landmark directors also have a yearly rewards program put in place, where employees can win different prizes if they complete different goals. In 2016, employees who completed a number of different business and personal goals, read books from the Landmark Library and exemplified Landmark’s internal values were able to go to Disneyland for a weekend. In 2017, employees can complete similar goals to win gift cards or get a day of paid time off.
Gilchrist said he hopes this award will bring more star employees to Landmark Home Warranty.
“I hope that by winning this award we can attract excellent people who want to work at a company that has an amazing culture and values hard work,” he said.
